Duncan Dempster / smallerclusters is a Honolulu-based artist working primarily in print media, with occasional forays into sculpture, woodworking, and sound design. Starting in 2000 he taught printmaking at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, for 20 years. From 2013-2022 he was the executive director of Honolulu Printmakers, a 94-year old nonprofit arts organization dedicated to promoting print culture in the state of Hawaii. In addition to his personal work, he has been involved in collective art projects involving printmaking, community outreach, collaboration, and exteriorized studio strategies.
